IELTS – IELTS is one of the most recognized English language tests globally and is used to check the English proficiency of individuals who want to study or do a job in an English-speaking country. This includes countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA.

IELTS — The International English Language Testing System is one of the most recognized English language tests globally. IELTS is used to check the English skill level of individuals (from non-speaking English countries) who want to study or do a job in an English-speaking country. The IELTS test assesses a candidate in four areas — listening, speaking, reading and writing. The score is presented on a scale of 1–9 band, where 1 is the lowest and 9 the highest.
The British Council developed IELTS in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and an Australian organization called IDP Education Australia, designed to act as proof to check your English speaking, writing, reading, and listening level. The IELTS test is acknowledged by over 10,000 institutions globally, including universities, colleges, governments, and employers.
Depending on the countries and universities you are applying for, students require a specific IELTS score to get admission and a visa. In the UK for a Student Visa — general Tier 4, bands requirements with an overall minimum score of 6, while in Canada it is 6.0.

If you are applying for a UK visa, you can also give an IELTS test approved for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) purposes known as IELTS for UKVI. UKVI stands for (UK Visa and Immigration).
UKVI IELTS — IELTS is a test meant for anyone who wants to pursue an academic or professional career internationally. It includes IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.
However, if you are applying for a UK visa, you can also give an IELTS test approved for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) purposes known as IELTS for UKVI. This applies to everyone coming from a non-English speaking country.
While there is no change in the content, format or level of difficulty and scoring, IELTS for UKVI simply follows certain extra security protocols to ensure the authenticity of the test taker. Also, your Test Report Form (TRF) may look slightly different from the one given for IELTS Academic or General Training.
UKVI stands for (UK Visa and Immigration). The students from non-English speaking countries looking to study or work in the United Kingdom (UK) need to clear IELTS for UKVI (Academic and General Training). IELTS for UKVI is a UK government-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT). IELTS and IELTS for UKVI follow the same format, content, scoring, and level of difficulty. The only thing different is the Test Report Form (TRF).
