Once you have met the conditions of your university offer,
submit your CAS Request Form along with supporting documentation at the earliest. Under the
recent UKVI regulations, the university will issue CAS by 6 months before the start of your
course.
Understanding the UK’s education system is crucial. International students considering studying
in the UK must obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). In order to apply for a
student visa, a student will need a CAS letter to prove their valid admission to a particular
college/university.
What is CAS Letter?
The student is requested to submit CAS (Confirmation of
Acceptance for Studies) when applying for a new Tier 4 student visa after being accepted for a
course. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) receives this secure electronic record from the
University.
The CAS Letters contain unique numbers that confirm the university is the educational sponsor
for a Tier 4 visa applicant. This letter provides a comprehensive overview of your application,
your chosen program, and your university to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). This letter also
contains the following details besides the 14-digit CAS number:
- The license number for the sponsoring university
- Your course’s start and end dates
- Tuition fees that you have already paid
- Test scores such as IELTS or TOEFL
- Course title
- Course tuition fees
- Your accommodation payment (if any)
Once the CAS has been generated, you will receive an email with the CAS statement. It is critical to know that UKVI will refuse visa applications submitted before a CAS has been generated.
What is a pre-CAS checklist?
In order to receive your final CAS, you will need to complete
‘pre-CAS checks’. As part of your visa application, the UK Home Office will ask you for
supporting documentation which they will review and assess.
Before issuing you a CAS, the Immigration Compliance Team will perform the following checks:
- Form for Immigration History
- Evidence of English language proficiency
- Preparation Test for Visas
- Evidence of financial health
- Request for a passport
- Request Form for CAS
What is a CAS interview?
This is the first interview you will attend before your CAS (Confirmation of Admission to Studies). The admissions office of the university conducts it. A pre-CAS interview is required for admission to a UK college or university.
What questions will be asked in the CAS interview?
The following questions can help prospective study abroad students prepare for an interview.
