Once you have met the conditions of your university offer, submit your CAS Request Form along with supporting documentation at the earliest. Under the recent UKVI regulations, the university will issue CAS by 6 months before the start of your course.
Understanding the UK’s education system is crucial. International students considering studying in the UK must obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). In order to apply for a student visa, a student will need a CAS letter to prove their valid admission to a particular college/university.
The student is requested to submit CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) when applying for a new Tier 4 student visa after being accepted for a course. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) receives this secure electronic record from the University.
The CAS Letters contain unique numbers that confirm the university is the educational sponsor for a Tier 4 visa applicant. This letter provides a comprehensive overview of your application, your chosen program, and your university to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). This letter also contains the following details besides the 14-digit CAS number:
Once the CAS has been generated, you will receive an email with the CAS statement. It is critical to know that UKVI will refuse visa applications submitted before a CAS has been generated.
In order to receive your final CAS, you will need to complete ‘pre-CAS checks’. As part of your visa application, the UK Home Office will ask you for supporting documentation which they will review and assess.
Before issuing you a CAS, the Immigration Compliance Team will perform the following checks:
This is the first interview you will attend before your CAS (Confirmation of Admission to Studies). The admissions office of the university conducts it. A pre-CAS interview is required for admission to a UK college or university.
The following questions can help prospective study abroad students prepare for an interview.
In order to explain yourself accurately, it is important to give precise and detailed answers. Avoid nonspecific (generic) responses to demonstrate adequate research. Make sure all of your answers are honest and clear in English. Please ask the interviewer to repeat a question if you don’t understand it.
Generally, CAS letters are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Consequently, applicants who submit their applications early are given preference. Upon confirmation of the student’s documents, the institution will send you the letter within 2–3 business days (it may take a few days longer). It is critical to note that universities do not produce CAS at a fixed time.
A student visa application can be submitted after receiving the CAS letter. However, there is a different procedure for every university. Upon acceptance, the university contacts UKVI on behalf of the student for the CAS number and verifies that the student is accepted.
Students receive their CAS numbers from UKVI through their universities. A CAS letter is automatically issued by some universities after the offer has been accepted and the fee has been deposited, while others require students to register on the official website before requesting the letter.
However, make sure that the student visa applications can only be submitted three months before the start date of your course.
A CAS is only valid for six months from its date. When you make your student visa application, you must include all original documents stated on your CAS, where required (low-risk nationals do not need to submit original documents). Failure to do so could result in a visa refusal.
Multiple universities can provide you with a CAS letter. To apply for a UK student visa, the student must decide which university they want to attend and use the CAS letter from that university. Thus, only one CAS letter can be used to obtain a student visa. However, a separate CAS number is required if you are planning on studying more than one course — for instance, an academic degree in Psychology course followed by a pre-sessional course in English.
To avoid disappointment, applicants are strongly advised to apply early since the University issues a limited number of CAS. It is not a guarantee that you will receive a CAS if you receive an Unconditional Offer, as the CAS requests will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.
We understand applying for a study abroad can be overwhelming. Inconsistencies between the information the university provides on the application form and the information the university offers on the CAS letter will result in a visa denial.
