Quick answer

How do you get a USA student visa from Gujarat?

Get admitted to a SEVP-certified school and receive your Form I-20. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, USD 350 at the time of writing, then complete the DS-160 online so every answer matches your passport and I-20. Pay the visa application fee, book a biometrics appointment at a Visa Application Center and an interview, which for Gujarat is usually at the US Consulate General in Mumbai. Set your social media accounts to public, take your documents to the interview, and answer clearly. Our USA student visa from Gujarat guide has the timeline.

What we do for you

What Our USA Student Visa Consultants Handle

Most US decisions are made at a short interview, but they rest on months of choices before it. We help with those choices, so the officer hears a plan that holds together.

  1. University shortlist with the fall and spring intakes in mind

We match programs to your marks, test scores and budget, and choose between the August to September and January starts. Public or private, STEM or not: each choice changes cost and options after graduation.

  2. Tests and applications

We plan your English test, with IELTS coaching or PTE coaching if you need it, check whether your programs want the GRE or GMAT, and help with essays and recommendation letters.

  3. I-20 and funding documents that agree

The I-20 states the cost and how it is funded. We make sure your sponsor letters, bank records and loan sanction tell the same story, with a source the officer can understand.

  4. SEVIS fee and DS-160

We check your DS-160 against your passport and I-20, including the SEVIS ID, travel history and five years of social media handles, before you sign it. Our DS-160 form guide explains each section.

  5. Slot booking in your own name

You keep your scheduling login, fee receipt and DS-160 under your control. We help you pair the biometrics and interview dates sensibly, with travel to Mumbai in mind.

  6. A second attempt after a refusal

If you have already been refused under 214(b), we go through what you said and what was in your file, find what has genuinely changed, and only then help you file a new DS-160. Repeating the same application rarely brings a different answer.

  7. Mock F-1 interviews

Officers presume every applicant intends to immigrate until shown otherwise. We practise the questions on your course, your funding and your plans after graduation, without scripts.

USA Student Visa Consultant: Your Questions

Where do students from Gujarat attend the F-1 visa interview?

Gujarat falls in the consular district of the US Consulate General in Mumbai, so most students interview there. The appointment system also lets you book at other US posts in India, which some students consider when Mumbai dates are tight. Weigh the travel against the date you gain.

How early can I get my US student visa?

An F-1 visa can be issued up to 365 days before your program start date, so book once your I-20, DS-160 and fee are final. Entry is the limit: you cannot enter the US more than 30 days before the start date on your I-20. Our guide to F-1 slot booking and interview dates covers the booking system.

Can I skip the interview with a dropbox appointment?

Plan for an in-person interview. Under the State Department's interview waiver rules in force since autumn 2025, first-time F-1 students are not among the categories that can usually skip it.

What happens after a 214(b) refusal?

It means the officer was not satisfied you qualify as a student who will leave the US after your studies. There is no appeal and no fixed waiting period. You can reapply with a new DS-160 and a new fee, but only new information or changed circumstances change the result. Read our guide to F-1 refusals under 214(b).

Can I work in the USA on an F-1 visa?

On-campus jobs are allowed up to 20 hours a week while school is in session. After your program, Optional Practical Training gives up to 12 months of work at each education level, and graduates in an eligible STEM field can apply for a further 24-month STEM OPT extension.

Can anyone promise me an F-1 visa or an interview date?

No. Only the consular officer decides, and anyone selling a guaranteed visa or a guaranteed date is not being straight with you. We make sure your I-20, DS-160 and finances agree, and that you can explain your plan in your own words.
